The Thayer County Sheriff's Department is situated in the Law Enforcement Center in Hebron, Nebraska. It is a law agency that enforces the law by promoting public safety in Thayer County. Thayer County Jail

Thayer County Jail is located in Hebron, Nebraska. The Jail was opened in 1983. The jail population at the time it was established was 20 prisoners in total. Thayer county sheriff's department manages the county jail facility.  Thayer county jail is a full-service detention facility that houses both the convicted inmates and those still awaiting their trials. It is a medium-security correctional center. It has 22 officers who oversee all activities in the Jail. A medical unit has a doctor and a nurse who offer emergency medical services to the staff and the inmates at the facility. The doctor also assists inmates having mental challenges in the facility.  The County Jail's mission states to provide a safe and secure facility for both inmates and the staff. The Jail receives inmates daily from all over Thayer county. Inmates at Thayer county jail facility may be released by posting bail or being put under probation. Most inmates at the facility have been convicted of felonies and sentenced to serve a jail term of two or fewer years. Inmates intended to be in the city jails may also be housed in Thayer county jail if the city jails can accommodate no more inmates at their facilities.  The inmates serving their jail terms at the facility are allocated different tasks at the jail grounds. Some work as sanitation workers and others work as assistants in the dish room, dining room, groundsmen, mess, and many more. Inmates can also work as cooks, kitchen staff, or laundry persons.   There are chances that some inmates will be violent and pose a security threat to the staff or fellow inmates. To address this, the Jail has a separate location where such inmates are detained, away from others.  The Jail schedules a counseling session every week for the inmates. A therapist is invited to take the inmates through the session, where they are taught how to solve issues peacefully, deal with anger, and respond to social concerns.   The Jail also has a GED program where the inmates can enroll at their own will to further their education. Some of the courses offered are basic literacy programs, arts and crafts, and vocational and tertiary training. 

How Bail Bonds Work in Thayer County Jail

When a law offender is arrested in Thayer county and charged, the magistrate schedules a bail and custody hearing to determine the bail amount for the inmate, if any.
