The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff department aims to be the benchmark of public safety professionals locally at the police department. To be acknowledged as committed to enhancing public safety for all Scotts Bluff County citizens. Sheriff Mark L Overman and the entire office believe their role is to identify community upheavals, prioritize and solve them, and prevent future societal problems. They achieve this through Law Enforcement cooperation with support services and other agencies. The Department staff work correctionally to uphold public safety because the officers offer the fundamental unit for departmental success. Here, they protect the constitutional rights of every resident.

The office is located in Administration Building - 2nd Floor 1825 10th Street Gering, NE 69341. The office hours are Monday through Friday between 8:00 pm to 4:30 pm.  If you come at any time, the department is open except on Wednesdays and during holidays. Department Administration 

Troy Brown is the Chief Deputy, and Ray Huffman is the Lieutenant. They are both in charge of administration. Sex Offender Registry Purpose

The Sheriff's Department conducts a sex offender registry to aid in sex crimes investigations. To prevent future sex offenses and track potentially high-risk sex offenders. For the sex offender registry, report to the county sheriff's office three working days after becoming a subject for the registration act. Then provide the info and documents with regular sheriff updates.  The data include Identification Data, Complete Address, Vehicle Information, Employment Status, Criminal History, Photographs, and Fingerprints, Mental Health Treatment History.

Who Should Register With the Sheriff

Juveniles and adults convicted of the crimes listed below within the Offender Registration Act parameters should have a registry: 
  • Non-parental minor Kidnapping
  • False minor Imprisonment
  • Sexual Assault
  • A Child Sexual Assault
  • A Vulnerable Adult Sexual Assault 
  • Incest with a Minor
  • Pandering a Minor
  • Sexually Explicit through Visual Depiction of a Child
  • Conspiracy of the above crimes
  • An Attempting the above crimes
  • History of Mental Health 

Scotts Bluff County Detention Center

The Scotts Bluff County Detention Center (SBCDC) is located in Nebraska Scotts Bluff County 2522 7th St, Gering, NE 69341. The center's mission is to provide its detainees, the public, and the staff with a secure, safe, and well-managed facility where each category gets treated with respect and dignity.  They offer programs that foster reintegration into the society striving daily to serve and make a difference throughout Scotts Bluff county. At Scotts Bluff Detention Center, they have zero tolerance for sexual harassment and abuse within the facility. Here, they have a mandate to all detainees, staff, visitors, volunteers, or contractors, assuring you that they won't tolerate sexual misconduct, abuse, inappropriate inmate-on-staff relationships. In SBCDC, the approved items allowed for the detainees include eyeglasses and prescription medications only. Visitors planning to leave some money to detainees may do so only from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm, excluding holidays and weekends.  They aim to fulfill the law enforcement requirements of the people of Scotts Bluff County with the highest degree of fairness, professionalism, and integrity.

SBCDC Contact Data

The SBCDC is situated in Scotts Bluff County as an adult detention center. Their office time is Monday through Friday from eight am to five pm, and they are closed during the weekends and holidays.  Scotts Bluff County Detention Center provides all essential hygiene products and clothing. To send money or any consultations, schedule a visit through a kiosk situated in the lobby. Through the Video visitation equipment, you can conduct on-site video visits. 

SBCDC Warrant Search

Warrants Division and Extraditions

Should a person get sentenced to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center, they'll be transported through the Sheriff according to their duty as imposed by the Nebraska State Statute 29-2401. Also, The extradition of that person starts with the Sheriff when their return to the state is required. County Court and District Court judges can issue the warrant for the apprehension of anyone charged with criminal offenses. They give the warrants directly to the Sheriff's office, where they get received by the deputy. The Chief Deputy Sheriff oversees the attempts to arrest the suspects and bring them to court.
