The Madison County Sheriff's Office heads the Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile Center by enforcing the law for the County. He serves as the surrogate Circuit Court chief officer and safety administrator of the Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile Center. Below are some of the functions of the Sheriff's Department:

Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile Facility

The Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile (NNJS) is a facility designated for underage inmates. The facility arbitrates the juveniles as male adults. Their age varies from early adolescence to the age of 21 years.  Its establishment was for the well-being of the counties of the Northeast side of Nebraska state. Each of the thirteen Northeast Nebraska counties has delegated a member on Nebraska's Board of Directors. Two sheriffs are members of the Nebraska Sheriff's Association. The federal government subsidizes the Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Facility by evaluating the board of directors' cost. It was settled with a mission to provide staffing, room and board, and rehabilitation services for juvenile inmates in the Northeast Nebraska area.

Juvenile Custody and Unit Management

Juvenile inmates apprehended by the County and district courts of the state of Nebraska go through the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). The inmates adhere to all DEC intake procedures upon arrival. The DEC takes their photographs, fingerprints, and DNA samples. Then they receive an inmate number. After the DEC intake activities, officers promptly transfer the juvenile inmates to the Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile Facility. At the NNJS, inmates complete additional existing documents. They receive medical screening, clothing and beddings, and a room for each. Before inmates join the general prison population, they go through an orientation period. Inmates take part in a variety of recreational activities under surveillance by officers seven days a week. Juvenile inmates willingly apply to participate in community guardianship programs. These programs include religious services, GED, vocational training, and education. 

Zero Tolerance Jurisdiction Towards Sexual Abuse

Northeast Nebraska Correctional Juvenile Center acknowledges a Zero-Tolerance policy for all types of sexual abuse and harassment. NNJS has protocols for all inmates and staff to adhere to the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Rehabilitation Programs

Multiple programs exist to achieve the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' mission. The mission of keeping the people safe. Incarcerating lawbreakers from the community is the primary step. The staff allows the inmates to participate in rehabilitation programs like clinical treatment, social activities, cognitive programs, education, and vocational training. These programs enable them to plan for their release as law-abiding citizens. The Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Detention is situated in Madison, Nebraska, in the United States.
