Sherriff is the highest rank of officers in Nebraska. A sheriff is responsible for all county residents. Boyd County Jail

This is a secure medium security jail located at 401 Thayer Street, Butte, NE, 68722, c. This Jail is administered and operated by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. Boyd county jail is responsible for holding all captured and detained prisoners from Boyd County waiting for a preliminary hearing. There is a juvenile detention center whereby offenders under 18 years are detained. They undergo training and counseling until they reform. The county jail receives approximately 3700 bookings every year. The inmates must not have a specific crime to be held here. The jail only holds inmates who are awaiting trial and those who have less than one year sentence.
